The shortened version of the classic Upper District run, used when water is too low to launch at Ponca. You skip the first two miles but still pass under Roark Bluff and the rest of the postcard bluff line on the way to Kyle's.

Current conditions · Upper district

Too low
3.55ft
54 cfs

Low flow (54 cfs) — expect lots of dragging through shoals.

There's no dedicated gauge at Steel Creek — it sits ~2 river miles below Ponca, so the Ponca reading is the proxy. Rule of thumb: Steel Creek → Kyle's is floatable down to ~3.2 ft on Ponca (vs ~3.5 ft from Ponca itself, since putting in at Steel Creek skips the shallowest shoals). Below ~3.0 ft, shift downstream to Pruitt.

Heads up: water is on the low side for this run. Minimum floatable here is ~3.2 ft on the referenced gauge.
