1. About This Site

Buffalo River Field Guide is an independent online trip planning tool for the Buffalo National River region of Arkansas. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with the National Park Service, the Buffalo National River, the US Forest Service, or any other government agency. All information on this site is provided for informational and trip planning purposes only.

2. Assumption of Risk

Outdoor recreation activities including but not limited to hiking, floating, swimming, rock climbing, bushwhacking, and wildlife viewing involve serious inherent risks including personal injury, death, property damage, and becoming lost or stranded. By using information from this site to plan or undertake any outdoor activity you expressly acknowledge and assume all risks associated with those activities.

Buffalo River Field Guide does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or currentness of any trail description, waterfall location, float route, conditions report, or other outdoor information on this site. Conditions in the outdoors change constantly and without warning. Always assess conditions yourself before heading out and use your own judgment at all times.

3. Conditions Information

Waterfall flow conditions and river levels displayed on this site are estimated based on precipitation data tracked for each drainage area and USGS gauge data. While we make reasonable efforts to provide accurate and current information we do not physically verify conditions at each location. Actual conditions may differ significantly from what is shown.

Float conditions and river levels can change rapidly and without warning. Information displayed on this site is a planning tool only and is not a substitute for your own judgment on the water or trail. Always verify conditions through multiple sources before heading out.

4. Emergency Information

Emergency contact numbers listed on trail and waterfall pages are provided as a convenience only. Buffalo River Field Guide makes no guarantee that these numbers are current or that emergency services will be available. Always carry your own means of communication and tell someone your plans before entering the wilderness.
