⭐ Boen Gulf Canyon Falls
Part of the Upper Buffalo Four Falls Canyon circuit — see the full route guide linking Magnolia, Woods Boys, Stahle, and Hadlock Cascade in a single ~3 mile day.
The falls
At 63 feet Stahle Falls is the tallest of the four waterfalls in this canyon and one of the most impressive in the Upper Buffalo Wilderness. Named after Professor Dave Stahle, a world-renowned expert in tree-ring science who owns a cabin at the head of this very drainage. The ancient trees surrounding this falls have stood for hundreds of years — living witnesses to floods, droughts, and fires that swept through these Ozark hollows long before any trail was ever cut. The falls can be reached two ways from Magnolia and Woods Boys Falls — a shorter bluffline route through huckleberry-covered terrain, or a longer more scenic route via the jeep road beneath dramatic overhanging bluffs. Either way Stahle Falls is the third stop on the four falls circuit and sets up the grand finale perfectly. See the Upper Buffalo Four Falls Canyon page for the full one-day circuit.
Getting there
From Magnolia and Woods Boys Falls, two options: for the shorter route make your way to the top of Magnolia Falls, cross the creek, and follow the bluffline to the right through huckleberry terrain to reach Stahle Falls. For the longer scenic route return to the jeep road and continue as it drops steeply downhill beneath overhanging bluffs — turn left at the base of those bluffs and follow the bluffline to the bottom of Stahle Falls. Quad: Fallsville.
