The falls
Amber Falls is one of dozens of 18 ft ribbon falls that ring the Buffalo River watershed. It runs hardest in late winter and early spring, when snowmelt and Ozark thunderstorms recharge the creeks. Getting there
Same approach as Compton's Double Falls — there is no trail to these falls. Park along CR 9560 (Cave Mountain Road) near the Hawksbill Crag trailhead and bushwhack in; GPS helpful. You reach Compton's Double Falls first (2.1 mi round trip), then continue another 0.7 mi along the same route to Amber Falls. ~3.5 miles round trip total.
