The falls
A short, wide curtain pours into a deep aquamarine pool just steps from the gravel road. One of the most accessible swimming holes in the Ozarks.
What makes it special
A rare 'roadside' waterfall you can view from the seat of your car on Forest Road 1205. The wide, curtain-like drop spills over a level limestone shelf into a deep turquoise swimming hole — one of the most accessible swimming spots in the Ozarks.
History
The falls have been a landmark and gathering spot for the Ben Hur and Moore communities for more than a century, thanks to their location right alongside what is now FR 1205 through the Ozark National Forest.
Submerged rocks in the swimming hole shift after floods, so depths change year to year. Jumping from the 10-foot ledge is popular but causes regular injuries — wade in first to check depth, and stay out when the creek is high and pushing.
Getting there
From Ben Hur, drive south on FR 1205 about 6 mi. Falls are visible from the road on the left.
