The falls
Mystic Falls is a hidden spring-fed waterfall tucked behind a bend in the bluff just 500 feet above Twin Falls of Richland — making it the easiest bonus waterfall add-on in the entire Richland Creek Wilderness. Most visitors to Twin Falls never know it exists. Climb the left bank above the Long Devil's Fork drop at Twin Falls, follow the creek upstream, and Mystic Falls appears almost immediately around a bend in the bluff. The surrounding cascades tumbling down the hillside are worth the short scramble alone. Mystic Falls is the middle stop on the Long Devil's Fork upstream sequence — Twin Falls at the bottom, Mystic Falls 500 feet up, and Long Devil's Fork Falls (Jim Bob Falls) another half mile beyond that. All three reachable without backtracking from Twin Falls.
The climb out of the Twin Falls grotto to reach this falls involves extremely slick slate rock — take your time and do not attempt in high water conditions.
Getting there
Follow the route to Twin Falls of Richland. At the Twin Falls pool, climb the left bank above the Long Devil's Fork drop — the slate rock is extremely slick when wet, so take your time. Once above the grotto, follow Long Devil's Fork upstream about 500 feet. Mystic Falls appears on your left tucked behind a bend in the bluff.
