Buffalo National River, Middle District
The Buffalo River Trail passes through the Maumee area between Kyles Landing and Pruitt, and Maumee Falls — in both its east and west branches — are among the rewards for hikers covering this stretch of the river. Both falls are seasonal wet-weather cascades that run best after significant rain in winter and spring. The surrounding Maumee Bottom area is one of the most scenic bottomland sections of the entire Buffalo River corridor, with towering sycamores and river views that make the hike worthwhile even when the falls aren't running. No dogs permitted on BRT.
