The falls
At 88 feet, Dewey Canyon Falls is one of the tallest easily accessible waterfalls in the Buffalo River region — and it sits just 0.4 miles from the highway. A volunteer trail drops from the guardrail on Hwy 341 (Push Mountain Road) down to the creek, which leads directly to the base of the plunge. Walk behind the falls when flow is heavy enough for a soaking close-up. Bumpers Falls is visible from the same bluffline just a short stroll away, making these two a natural pairing.
What makes it special
An 88-foot plunge with a walk-behind ledge when flow is heavy — and Bumpers Falls visible from the same bluffline just a short stroll away.
Best time to go
Best within a day or two of good rain. Like most Ozark falls, flow drops off quickly in dry stretches.
The volunteer trail drops steeply from the highway guardrail with loose footing, and the rock behind the falls is slick — use caution if you walk under the curtain.
Getting there
From Big Flat, follow Push Mountain Road (Hwy 341). Park in the small pull-off on the opposite side of the road from the trail, then take the volunteer trail down from the guardrail to the creek and follow it to the base of the falls.
