The falls
A short walk from the road on Boy Scout Camp Orr property leads to one of the most photogenic waterfalls in Arkansas — three parallel ribbons of water plunging roughly 48 feet over a mossy sandstone ledge. Best after a good rain in spring or after fall storms.
What makes it special
Officially mapped by USGS as 'Twin Falls,' the falls earn their nickname because a third middle chute appears in the center of the bluff after heavy rain — so a good visit can show one, two, or three parallel cascades over the same mossy ledge.
History
The falls sit on the property of Camp Orr, a Boy Scout camp established in the Buffalo River valley in the 1950s and still in use today. The access road and trail have been used by generations of Scouts and have become one of the most photographed spots inside Buffalo National River.
Caves & springs
The cascades drop along a tall sandstone bluff line characteristic of the Upper Buffalo's karst topography, with a small bluff shelter recess beside the plunge pool.
The access road (Camp Orr Rd / CR 2306) is exceptionally steep, rough, and often impassable for low-clearance vehicles, motorcycles, or anything towing a trailer — especially after wet weather. 4WD or AWD is needed to access the road. Respect Camp Orr signage and stay off the rocks above the falls.
Getting there
From Ponca, take AR-43 south, then AR-74 east toward Kyles Landing. Turn onto Camp Orr Rd and follow signs to the parking area near the falls. 4WD or AWD is needed to access the road.
By river
Duration: Allow 30–45 minutes round trip from the river.
Reachable by canoe or kayak on the Upper Buffalo between Ponca and Kyles Landing — pull out at the obvious creek mouth near Camp Orr and follow the short footpath (about 0.5 mi) up to the falls.
